WUNLY Smart Digital 4-Slice Toaster Review
I ran two different waffles through the WUNLY Smart Digital toaster at once. Here's whether the touchscreen and dual control actually hold up.
The WUNLY Smart Digital 4-Slice Touchscreen Toaster is worth buying if your old toaster is a dumb two-slot with no settings. The dual independent control panels let you run two different foods to two different shades at once, and the 1.5-inch slots fit jumbo bagels without squashing them. Buy it if you actually customize your toast.

Two Waffles, Two Settings, One Toaster
I had two different types of waffles sitting on the counter and figured that was the real test for a smart digital toaster like this. I dropped the first one into both left slots, then switched the right panel over to a second batch with its own setting. The screen actually tracks left and right independently, flipping back and forth on the display so you can see both countdowns without guessing which pair is almost done.
The old toaster I had before this was a basic two-slot with no settings at all. Drop it in, hit the button, get what you get. This one has presets for white, bagel, gluten-free, egg muffins, pastry, and waffle, each with its own shade dial. That’s the actual upgrade here, not just more slots.
What This Toaster Isn’t Built For
It’s not a toaster you leave sitting out if counter space is tight. It’s bigger than a regular toaster because of the four wide slots, and it eats up real counter real estate. We don’t actually keep this on our counter. We put it over into the pantry when we’re not using it and pull it out when we need it. If you’ve got a small kitchen with no extra storage, that’s worth knowing before you buy it, not after.
The Shade Setting Lies to You, a Little
Whatever shade you think you want, go one level darker. I set mine to dark and even then it came out a little lighter than I expected [transcript-timed, visible during the side-by-side comparison]. That’s not a huge complaint, it’s just something you have to learn once and then account for every time after. The cancel button is a nice touch for a quick release if you panic mid-toast, I hit it mid-run just to show it stops instantly, then had to restart the cycle because I actually wanted it finished.
Versus the Basic Two-Slot I Used to Own
My old two-slot had one job: heat everything the same way until you learned to pull the lever early. The WUNLY’s whole pitch is that it never forces that compromise, two panels, two timers, two shade levels, running at the same time. My old two-slot had zero customization, just a lever and a dial that barely did anything. The WUNLY’s dual independent control panels mean gluten-free bread can go light gold on one side while a thick sourdough goes dark roast on the other, with no flavor transfer between them.
What to Check Before You Buy
The price moves enough that it’s worth checking before you buy, it’s recently dropped close to its three-month low, which is the right time to pull the trigger. The sales rank climb confirms other people have noticed; don’t wait for a further discount that probably isn’t coming. If you’re deciding between the base model and a bundle, the stainless steel body is what you’re paying for structurally, it wipes clean easily and the crumb tray pulls out in under two minutes for cleanup.
Pros
- Dual independent control panels actually run two different settings at once without flavor transfer
- 1.5-inch wide slots fit bagels and thick waffles without squashing them
- Quick-release cancel button stops one side mid-cycle instantly
- Stainless steel body looks good enough to leave on the counter if you have the space
- Six presets cover bagel, bread, pastry, waffle, defrost, and reheat
Cons
- Shade settings run a little lighter than what you select, so you have to overcompensate
- Takes up noticeably more counter space than a standard 2-slot toaster
- Not something you can leave out if your kitchen counter is already tight
Frequently Asked Questions
Can the two sides really run completely different toast settings at once?
Yes. The left and right control panels are independent, so you can run waffle on one side and bagel on the other with different shade levels, and the screen tracks both countdowns separately.
Does the touchscreen need an app or wifi to work?
No. The screen controls everything on the unit itself, there’s no app or account needed to use any of the presets or shade settings.
What’s covered under the warranty?
The manufacturer covers defects for 365 days, one full year from purchase. That’s the same window you’d get from most mid-range kitchen appliances, so if the shade dial or display misbehaves out of the box, you’re covered without having to argue about it.
Will it fit jumbo bagels without jamming?
Yes, the slots are 1.5 inches wide specifically so thick-cut bread, homemade waffles, and jumbo bagels fit without getting squashed.
How do you clean the crumb tray?
It’s a full-length removable tray that slides out from the bottom. Dump it out and wipe it down, it’s a two-minute job and the stainless steel exterior wipes clean just as easily.
