OWLSKY Air Walk Elliptical Exercise Machine Review: Handle Height Limitation for Taller Users

My hands-on take on the OWLSKY Air Walk Elliptical Exercise Machine after assembling and testing it at 6'3", 280 lb.

+ Pros
  • Assembled in 25 minutes with minimal parts
  • Held up solidly at 280 lb, 6’3″ against a 400 lb capacity
  • Four-cable tension system gives real adjustability on both sides
  • Handles move out slightly, not just side to side, for a more natural stride
  • LCD tracking is optional, not required, to get a solid workout
− Cons
  • Handles don’t adjust in height, which is a real annoyance for taller users
  • Requires AAA batteries just to power the LCD screen
  • Tracking metrics are estimates (heart rate, calories), not clinical-grade accuracy

The OWLSKY Air Walk Elliptical Exercise Machine is worth buying if you want a quiet, low-impact cardio glider for home use and you’re under about 6 feet tall. At 6’3″, I found the handles sit too low to be fully comfortable, but assembly took 25 minutes, the 400 lb weight capacity held up fine, and the four-cable tension system gives real adjustability. Buy it for entry-level home cardio, skip it if you need handle height adjustment.

How this review was made: written from my own video review of this product. Every opinion here is my own, from using it myself.

Quick Verdict

Assembly took 25 minutes, the all-metal frame held my 280 lb at 6’3″ without a creak, and the four-cable tension setup gives real control. The one thing I’d change: the handles don’t adjust up, which bugs taller users more than anyone else.

Buy if you:

  • want a low-impact full-body cardio option for home
  • are under roughly 6 feet tall and won’t miss higher handle placement
  • need something quiet enough to use without waking the house
  • want an entry-level glider you can assemble yourself in under 30 minutes

Why I Even Agreed to Test This One

At 6’3″ and 280 lb, I was testing whether this machine could handle a legitimate load without creaking, and whether the handle height would actually work for someone my size. A lot of people hear “glider” and think elliptical, and upper body wise, they’re right. The difference is in the lower body: an elliptical gives you more of a stepping motion, this gives you a gliding motion, and the top and bottom end up working together in a way that felt more connected than I expected.

What’s Actually Bolted Together Here

All-metal frame, blue accents, built-in wheels for moving it without dragging the whole room. The biometric sensors on the handles estimate heart rate, which feeds into the calorie estimate on the LCD screen. That screen tracks time, step count, estimated pulse, calories burned, and rotations per minute, and it’s easy to read at a glance mid-workout. There’s a phone and tablet holder built in too, so you can run a workout video or an app without it sliding off. Tension comes from four total cables, two sets of notches on each side, so you can dial the intensity up or down independently. The joints at the handles also let them move out slightly instead of just side to side, which makes the stride feel more natural depending on how you normally move through a glider workout.

Assembly and the First Real Workout

Assembly: 25 minutes, minimal parts, no specialized tools needed. I’m 6’3″ and 280 lb, so against a 400 lb weight capacity I had room to spare but I was still a legitimate test for how the frame handles a heavier, taller rider. It held up fine, no wobble, no creak under load. I had the tension set to the highest notch and the resistance felt consistent through the full range of the glide, not just at the top of the stroke.

The Handle Height Problem

The handle height doesn’t adjust, and at 6’3″ that’s the only real weakness here. They’re comfortable to grip, but there’s no way to adjust them up, and at 6’3″ I’d have liked to hold them closer to the middle of my body instead of down low where they sit. It’s not a huge deal, it doesn’t change how the machine performs, and it’s still a comfortable machine to use. But if you’re tall, this is the thing that’s going to bug you after the first few sessions, not a dealbreaker, just a real limitation worth knowing before it shows up.

Who Should Actually Buy This

Entry-level glider for daily cardio at home, not for chasing competition-level metrics or tracking accuracy. You don’t even need the AAA-powered LCD screen to get value out of it, you can just get on and do the work without worrying about tracking anything. It’s there as a bonus, not a requirement. And on the buying side, it’s worth knowing Amazon currently ranks it #74,457 in Sports & Outdoors against a 90-day average rank of #146,196, meaning it’s moving faster lately than it typically has, and pricing right now sits close to the lowest it’s been tracked at over the past few months. That combination, better sales momentum plus a low price point, is usually a decent signal if you’ve been sitting on the fence about this one.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use this machine without the LCD screen or batteries installed?

Yes. The screen is a nice bonus for tracking time, steps, and calories, but you can get on and do the full workout without ever powering it on.

Does the air walk elliptical work for someone over 6 feet tall?

It still works, but the handles sit lower than taller users will want since there’s no height adjustment. At 6’3″ I found it comfortable but not ideal for positioning my arms where I’d prefer.

How does this compare to a stepping-motion elliptical?

The upper body motion is similar to a standard elliptical, but the lower body uses a gliding motion instead of a stepping one, so the top and bottom halves work together differently through the stride.

What’s included for assembly, and do I need extra tools?

Assembly uses minimal tools and doesn’t involve a lot of separate parts. Total build time for me was around 25 minutes.

Loses ground on the handle height, not on anything structural. Hardware and tension system are closer to a 4.4 on their own. Skip it if you’re tall and want to hold the grips up near your chest, a height-adjustable handle on a future version would make this an easy 5.
