GIMILI Black Kitchen Faucet Review: Easy Install, Great Functionality
A hands-on look at the GIMILI black kitchen faucet: easy install, 15-inch pull-down hose, gravity-ball retraction, and what the spring design actually buys you.
The GIMILI Black Kitchen Faucet is worth buying if you want a spring-style pull-down that installs in an afternoon. The 15-inch hose reaches every corner of the sink and the gravity ball retracts the head on its own, no magnet to wear out. Buy it.

Quick Verdict
Easy to install, it looks great, and functionally it’s the best sink faucet we’ve seen. That spring holds the metal hose up so you can move the head pretty much anywhere around the sink. Three things, all of them true.
Buy if you:
- Want a matte black faucet you can install yourself in an afternoon
- Wash big pots and need the head to reach the far corners of the sink
- Have had a magnetic dock weaken on an old faucet
- Like the exposed spring-coil look over a smooth gooseneck
Skip if you:
- Have a low window or upper shelf behind the sink, because the spring coil sits tall and won’t duck under it
- Want touchless or voice control, this is a plain single-lever faucet
- Need more than two spray modes, you get stream and spray

That Spring Right There
The spring is the part that sold me. It holds up that metal hose and lets you move the head pretty much wherever you want around the sink, which is the whole reason you buy a pull-down in the first place. The GIMILI black kitchen faucet uses a 15-inch hose under that coil, so there’s no corner of a double-basin sink you can’t hit.
And the retracting spout means it goes back on its own. GIMILI does this with a gravity ball instead of a magnet, which matters more than it sounds. Magnetic docks get lazy after a couple of years and the head starts hanging crooked. Gravity doesn’t weaken.
Install Took an Afternoon, Not a Plumber
No plumber, no swearing under the cabinet. Single hole, single handle, and the PEX supply lines bend to meet the shutoff valves instead of kinking against them, the part of a faucet swap that usually costs you a knuckle.
One thing worth knowing before you order: this is a single-hole faucet. If your counter is drilled for three holes you’ll want a deck plate, and that’s not something you discover happily with the old faucet already in a bucket. Check your countertop first.

Wiping It Down Is the Whole Maintenance Plan
Soft cloth, done. The 304 stainless surface resists fingerprints and water spots, which on a matte black finish is the thing that usually goes wrong. Black fixtures show every drip. This one doesn’t hold them the way the cheap painted ones do.
No cartridges to buy, no filters, no batteries. The ceramic cartridge inside is the leak-resistant type, and the hose is high-temp PEX. Ownership cost after you install it is zero unless something fails outright.
Who Should Actually Put This on Their Counter
Anyone replacing a tired faucet who wants one afternoon to be the whole project. The spray mode puts out enough pressure to strip baked-on grease off a sheet pan, that’s not a feature you notice until you’ve used a weak-flow faucet for two years and forgotten what a real rinse feels like. That’s the daily argument for it.
It’s also moving. I track sales rank data every day and this one has climbed to #367 from a 90-day average of #439, with more than 3,000 bought in the last month, and it’s sitting below where it’s usually priced. That’s not a reason to buy a bad faucet. It is a reason to not sit on a good one.
Who shouldn’t: if you want touchless, look elsewhere, this is a manual lever. And if you’ve got a window ledge right behind the sink, measure the clearance before you commit to a tall spring coil. Otherwise, this is the one to buy.
Pros
- Easy install, single hole, flexible PEX lines
- Spring holds the hose so the head moves anywhere around the sink
- Gravity ball retraction instead of a magnet that weakens over time
- 15-inch hose reaches every corner, no dead angles
- Looks great and the finish shrugs off fingerprints
Cons
- Exposed spring coil sits tall, so low windows or shelves behind the sink are a problem
- Single-hole mount means a deck plate if your counter is drilled for three
- Two spray modes only, no pause or jet setting
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use it with a farmhouse or bar sink?
Yes, as long as the sink deck has a single mounting hole and enough clearance for the spring. It works on farmhouse, bar and outdoor sinks. The limit is height above the basin, not the sink type.
Is it safe for drinking water?
Yes. It’s certified to cUPC and NSF 61/372 and meets Lead-Free standards, with 304 stainless steel waterways. Those are the certifications plumbing inspectors look for.
What usually fails first on a faucet like this?
Normally the docking magnet or the cartridge. This one skips the magnet entirely with a gravity ball, and uses a ceramic cartridge, which is the long-lived type. Mineral buildup in the aerator is the likeliest nuisance, and that unscrews and soaks clean.
